Stags revel in "Under 21" win despite an average age of 26!

Mansfield Town have been reveling in their ''Under 21'' win over the Spireites despite having a team with an average age of over 26!

The Stags lined up with Jensen (41-years-old), McGuire (33), Potter (28), Arquin (28), Hemmings (26), Hoban (25), Baxendale (24), Taft (23), Hamilton (21) Howkins (20) and Lewis Collins (20). The entire starting XI being made up of manager Steve Evans' first team squad players. The only player who is yet to make his first team debut for the Stags was 20-year-old Lewis Collins.

However Chesterfield fielded a team with just one professional player in 20-year-old Jake Beesley. (Beesley himself is two months younger than Mansfield's Lewis Collins!). The rest of the Chesterfield team was made up of youth team players and even included 15-year-old goalscorer Luke Rawson.

Despite this Chesterfield continued to list the game as a reserve fixture which The Central League is widely considered to be. "The Central League is a football league for reserve teams, primarily from the English Football League."

But I guess this doesn't come as much of a shock to Spireites - who already knew those folk from Mansfield aren't very good at counting!
