SPIREITES SECURE STRIKER!

Chesterfield have announced the signing of 29 year old striker Paul McCallum on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge. 

The Daggers have recently added Inih Effiong to their ranks which has given The Spireites the opportunity to acquire McCallum and get their form back on track. 

The Spireites have been horrifically out of form of late and they’ve had real problems finding the back of the net, Boreham Wood away being a prime example. However, an experienced number nine in McCallum could be the answer to their problems. 

McCallum has scored goals virtually everywhere he has played especially at this level. West Ham poached McCallum from Dulwich Hamlet at a young age but despite loan spells to the likes of Hearts, Rochdale, Portsmouth, and AFC Wimbledon McCallum’s best form has come at National League level. 

Standing at 6ft3 McCallum is a real problem for defenders as our backline know far too well after being on the receiving end of two of his strikes back in October, consequently The Spireites came out 3-2 losers against Dagenham & Redbridge. 

McCallum has an impeccable scoring record at Eastleigh and Dag & Red, netting 36 in 73 for Eastleigh and 46 in 105 for Dag & Red. He also had a short but sweet loan spell at Barnet in 2020 scoring six in seven. 

Paul Cook will be hoping he can replicate that form for The Blues and get their promotion ambitions back on track.
