Relief for Spireites as Wigan job goes to Caldwell
There was a sense of relief for Spireites as the available Wigan Athletic job went to former Wigan captain Gary Caldwell.
Paul Cook had been as low as 5-1 in the betting and third favourite for the job - which actually put him ahead of new boss Caldwell at 6-1 early on in the day.
Cook who played 83 times for Wigan over four years between 1984 and 1988 and then again on loan in the 2001/02 season playing six more games.

Thank you Gary Caldwell - you've made some happy Spireites!
