Players and Fans react to Shinner's departure
Much loved fitness coach Shane Nicholson has left the club after 11 years at Chesterfield. Nicholson who is known as 'Shinner' started long association with the Spireites in the 1998/99 season where he played 24 times. Shinner returned to Chesterfield in 2004 where he played 68 games before his retirement in 2007.
After he announcing his retirement from football in 2007, Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson announced that Nicholson would become the clubs rehabilitation and fitness coach.
Dean Saunders is looking to bring his own staff to the club with Mal Purchase likely to take the fitness coach role.
Former and current Chesterfield players took to social media to thank Shane for the time he worked with them.
Goalkeeper Tommy Lee gave Shane this fitting tribute;
He went on to document his transformation under the 44 year old.
Gary Roberts, Tendayi Darikwa and Ritchie Humphreys echoed the statement of Nicholson not only being a great fitness coach, but a great man.
