Ready, Steady, Go!
Journey man striker Jon Stead is being touted as a potential target for Spireites' Dean Saunders.
Stead who has had spells at Huddersfield, Blackburn, Sunderland, Derby, Sheff Utd, Ipswich, Coventry, Bristol, Oldham and Bradford City has recently been released from his contract at Huddersfield Town, the club where he was a youth.
The 32-year-old is expected to sign for Bradford City after impressing in their cup run which saw them put out Premier League outfit Chelsea. Stead has delayed signing for the Bantams after his release due to current takeover talks at Bradford.
Saunders has commented that the striker position is an area that he wishes to improve. He is currently looking for a small, pacey striker to get behind defences and well as a target man. Stead would fit perfectly into this second category and would bring plenty of experience to the Spireite squad.
