Two former Spireites targets released
Two former Spireites targets Paul Corry and Gary Madine have been released by Sheffield Wednesday today.
Chesterfield assistant Leam Richardson confirmed Chesterfield's interested in Paul Corry back in November 2014 after the Spireites tried to tie up a loan deal for the 24 year old Irishman.
Richardson: "Paul is a player we rate highly and we would bring him to the club if the opportunity arose"
Owls boss Stuart Gray confirmed they received an inquiry for Paul Corry before the loan deadline. "He's a Sheffield Wednesday player and was needed on the bench"
Madine who had a short loan spell at the Spireites in 2010 has long been linked with the club.
Speaking on Gary Madine before the Spireites took on Coventry where Madine was a loanee in December 2014, Richardson commented: "Gary's a player we know well from being just down the road from us. He's a goalscorer and he knows the game and we're fully aware of that"
The pairs release by the owls is unlikely to have been missed by the Spireites hierarchy.
