Pre-Season players reports : vs Buxton FC

The Spireites earned their second win in two days with a 4-0 win against Buxton FC. Just after the 25 minute mark the Spireites took the lead through left back Dan Jones, when he smashed the ball from long range in the direction of the Buxton goal where the unlucky Buxton goalkeeper fumbled the attempt into his own net. A second followed on the 37th minute after great work from the hard working Gboly Ariyibi saw him win the ball and pass to Jay O'Shea who evaded his marker and unleashed a powerful effort into the Buxton goal. Soon after half time, Chesterfield FC development squad player Jake Orrell added Chesterfield's third goal of the night with a close range effort after receiving a smart pass from fellow half time sub Armand Gnanduillet.

Chesterfield sealed the victory when on the hour mark Mani Dieseruvwe netted Chesterfield's fourth goal after a solo run was finished off by a low shot into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. The Spireites will now travel to Portugal this Sunday for a team building vacation with confidence sky high after scoring seven goals and conceding none in their first two games.

First Half:

A Trialist (gk) (Number 20)

Our trialist goalkeeper found himself a little more active than against Matlock Town but still hasn't found himself called into action much at all. Marshals his backline well and seems to have good organisational and communication skills.

Darikwa (Number 2)

A steady improvement by Tendayi Darikwa. His commitment to his defensive duties allowed Gboly Ariyibi to run riot down the right wing and they could prove to be a thrilling partnership.

Jones (Number 3)

Dan Jones has started the season at the top of his game, brilliant pacey runs down the left hand side with partner in crime Dan Gardner cutting inside and out. These two have been two of the stand out players in the pair of games so far.

Hird (Number 4)

Sam Hird has been consistently strong in these two pre-season games and hasn't really put a foot wrong. The defence will be happy with their two clean sheets.

Evatt (Number 23)

Ian Evatt was a real rock at the back tonight. Back to his best, commanding and strong he looked every bit ready for the upcoming season.

Morsy (Number 5)

Great with the ball, as ever, always offering an outlet for the midfield and back four. This game saw Morsy have more freedom going forward and often found himself in and around the Buxton box. His hunger and desire looks as strong as ever and he is a great role model for the youngster members of the squad to follow.

O'Shea (Number 10)

Partnered with Morsy to start the game, O'Shea found himself in different positions of the pitch but just as effective as he was against Matlock Town. Two goals in two halves for Jay'O, great start to the season!

Ariyibi (Number 28)

Gboly brought a touch of magic to this game with his hard working attitude and super slick skills. It's been a pleasure to watch him so far,  with wing play being a big factor in these opening games  hopefully we will see more of Ariyibi this season.

Gardner (Number 7)

Despite only playing a touch over 34 minutes Dan Gardner made a real impact on this game. Him and Dan Jones look electric down the left hand side and seemingly making that left side their own. Excited to see Gardner again after the squad return from Portugal.

Clucas (Number 12)

All Sam Clucas is lacking is a goal, his tireless work rate is opening up space for midfield flair from Gardner, O'Shea and Ariyibi. He is playing the old fashioned number 10 role perfectly and looks to have already formed a good understanding with SEB.

Sylvan Ebanks Blake (Number 22)

SEB was full of running against Buxton, hopefully his hard working on his fitness regime will pay off. Looks to have settled in really well and gives the Spireites a different option to what they are used to.

Orrell (Number 30)

What a couple of days Jake Orrell is having! At just 17 years old he's scored his first goal for Chesterfield and certainly deserves it. Orrell is a tidy little player with lots of skill, his commitment and willing are first class. With these first two displays the Chesterfield FC development squad player could certainly be pushing for a first team place.

Simons (Number 14)

Rai Simons has been used in a variety of positions since joining the Spireites this summer. Has found himself deeper in midfield, on the wings and up front. From today's showing he certainly showed he isn't afraid of dribbling with the ball.

Second Half:

Humphreys (Number 15)

Ritchie showed great versatility playing at right back. He was equally as comfortable with the ball as he was at Matlock and he is a great role model for the younger players around him.

A Trialist (Number 25)

"Trialist number 25" found himself starting at left back after impressing at Matlock Town. Didn't see so much of the ball in this position but remained to look like a solid player. Certainly wouldn't mind if he was offered a squad place this season.

Raglan (Number 16)

Charlie Raglan once again made Dean Saunders life harder by putting in a impressive display, how Saunders can pick between Evatt, Hird and Raglan at the moment I do not know. The maturity of Charlie is way beyond his 22 years.

Onovwigun (Number 21)

The 19 year old found himself at centre back against Buxton a position we have yet to see Onovwigun in. The extra time allowed for a centre back helped Onovwigun and it's great for his confidence to come away with a clean sheet.

A Trialist (Number 29)

A very decent game by "Number 29". The agile midfielder got some good minutes under his belt and showed his class. Hopefully we will see him and Sam Morsy starting together.

Banks (Number 24)

Both games Ollie Banks has shown glimpses of being really top player. If he can get a bit of consistency we have a great player on our hands.

 Dieseruvwe (Number 26)

Playing on the left side of the midfield and a little time up front Mani had his best game in a Spireites shirt to date. Got himself a goal after a solo run was finished off by a low shot. Not really a winger but got himself stuck in and had a good performance.

Harrison (Number 18)

Again looked unhappy and out of place being on the right wing. Struggling to find his role with the Spireites, needs a big game against one of the big teams visiting the Proact to earn some game time in the season proper.

Gnanduillet (Number 9)

Not a bad display by Armand. Got himself in some good positions and earned himself a few chances. Will be kicking himself he didn't score an absolute sitter!

Other places that featured briefly were:

Jake Beesley
George Milner
Lawence Maguire
Trialist Number 13
