Tendayi Darikwa off to Premier League leaders?
The Mirror are reporting that former Spireites favourite is set to move to Premier League leaders Leicester City or fellow Premier League outfit West Brom. With the emergence of football league talents such as Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli, Premier League sides are now on the look out for lower league gems.
Darikwa signed for Burnley this summer on a 3 year contract with the Clarets edging out Preston for the 23 year-old after he requested a transfer from Chesterfield. Darikwa joined Chesterfield after leaving school at 16 where he remained for seven years.
It is reported that Darikwa has a big sell on fee. When talking about sell-on-fees Chesterfield chairman Dave Allen told the Chesterfield Post ''We've got a big one with Tendayi''.
Darikwa has been highly impressive in the Championship this season playing under another former Spireite Sean Dyche. He has been an ever present this season playing all 17 games so far. He is highly regarded by Clarets fans and has been seen as the ideal replacement for Kieran Trippier, who left to join Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Darikwa was linked with Premier League stardom before in late 2013 with former Everton boss David Moyes personally watching Darikwa. The Scotsman was known to be a big fan of the former Spireite winger come right back.
Other teams linked with Tendayi in 2013 included Man Utd, Spurs, West Ham, Fulham and Hull City.
