Fans poll : Who you want as your new manager
Chesterfield fans voted current Rochdale manager Keith Hill as the man you would like to see as your next manager. Hill was also a popular choice with Chesterfield fans when Paul Cook left the Spireites to join Portsmouth, finishing second to Leam Richardson in our poll at that time.
Hill has done a wonderful job at Rochdale over two spells, in his first spell he oversaw their promotion from League Two in 2009/10. He again promoted Rochdale again in his second spell when he promoted them alongside the Spireites in 2013/14 season. Last season Hill has guided Rochdale to 8th in League One on limited resources.
Fans warm to Hill due to his high passion and honest talking style of management, similar to former boss Paul Cook.
Second choice was former Swindon manager Mark Cooper. Cooper has also proven himself on a tight budget with the development of Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin who were sold to QPR and Nathan Byrne who was sold to Wolves. He took the Robins to the Sky Bet League One play-off final last season, losing out in the final to Preston.
Out of work managers Ian Holloway, Stuart Gray, Nigel Pearson and Danny Wilson were also popular choices.
Third choice Holloway guided Crystal Palace to promotion to the 2013–14 Premier League, the 52 year old also guided Blackpool to the Premier League three years before this. Holloway finds himself out of work after an unsuccessful spell at Millwall.
Your fourth choice was former Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray, who it has been confirmed that he has applied for the role. In his first full season in charge of the owls, he secured their highest finish for 6 years and he also oversaw Wednesday equal their clean sheet record for a season. Following a takeover at Sheffield Wednesday by businessman Dejphon Chansiri, Gray was and replaced by current head coach Carlos Carvalhal.
