Morgan joins as first team coach

Tough tackling defender Chris Morgan has joined the Spireites as first team coach.

Morgan, 38, from Barnsley, made 432 appearances for Barnsley and Sheffield over a 16 year career between 1996 and 2012. Morgan became Sheffield United Reserve Team coach shortly after sustaining a career ending knee injury in October 2010. Morgan made his first and last professional performances under Danny Wilson.

Morgan led Sheffield United Reserves to the Central League title in the 2011/12 season. In April 2013, following the departure of manager current Chesterfield boss Danny Wilson, Morgan was appointed as caretaker manager for the remainder of the 2012/13 season, however he did not get the permanent job. Morgan had been working as Sheffield United under 21 manager.

Morgan is known for his organising and leadership skills.

Welcome Chris!
