Aston Villa Odds

Chesterfield manager Paul Cook is currently 33/1 with William Hill to become next Aston Villa manager.

This puts him alongside many former Premier league, international and even former Champions League managers such as Martin O'Neil, David Moyes, Avram Grant and Slaven Bilic.

This is quite an achievement for a manager managing in League Two just last season.

Chesterfield fans are well aware of the progression of the club under Cook's leadership. Spireites are continually impressed with the style, team mentality and never say die attitude he has brought to North Derbyshire and are dreading the day a club might come in with a potential bid for him.

A massive credit must go to the club hierarchy for offering the Liverpudlian a new contract and tying him to the club to 2017. Which if the worst was to happen and a team come in for Paul Cook then at least the club could earn some good compensation.

Good news for Spireites is that Tim Sherwood and Glenn Hoodle are hot favourites for the Villa job, so Spireites can breathe a sigh of relief once more.
