Chesterfield FC are still monitoring Callum Chettle
Callum current plays for Ilkeston FC who he joined at the age of 15 having spent his formative years at Nottingham Forest. He quickly progressed to Ilkeston's senior side and whilst still aged only 18 he has played well over 90 games at first team level. Callum remains the youngest player to start a competitive game for Ilkeston FC which he achieved when only 16 years old.
Chettle has been a virtual ever present in Ilkeston's team and was a key player as they fought to gain promotion to the Conference North at the end of this 2014/15 season. On their final league fixture of the season Ilkeston secured a play-off semi-final berth, against Workington, although they fell short at the final hurdle against Curzon in the final. Chettle has recently made the Non League Paper team of the year and has made his England C cap debut.
Chettle's agents Full Contract already have a good working relationship with the Spireites, with Chesterfield already having many Full Contract clients including Ollie Banks, Armand Gnanduillet, Gboly Ariyibi, Mani Dieseruvwe and new signing Rai Simons. Former Spireite Richard Brindley is also on their books.
Callum is the son of Nottingham Forest legend Steve Chettle who was at Forest between 1983 and 1999 playing 415 times. Steve Chettle left Ilkeston FC as Assistant Manager and Academy Manager to join Nuneaton Town in a similar position in early may.
While at Nottingham Forest, Chettle Snr played 10 seasons with current Chesterfield FC goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley with the Nottingham Forest connection continuing to manager Dean Saunders. The trio played the 1996/97 season together at Forest which was also the year of Callum's birth!
Ilkeston FC have a very good recent success with many of their players finding League One clubs. Che Adams, Ashley Hunter, Akil Wright, Joe Burgess and now Rai Simons have all joined League One in recent times and Callum Chettle could be the next.
