Dean Saunders addresses the Speakeasy
New Chesterfield manager Dean Saunders addressed the Chesterfield FC Speakeasy which is held every Friday at the Chesterfield Hub at 1pm.
Saunders on loan players
''Sometimes you can't tell them off, they think... I'm not playing where they want to play, so don't work as hard....they've got to fit in the dressing room, I've got mixed feelings on loan players, they've got to fit in the dressing room''
On experience players
''We need good experience players in the dressing room, go and see Ritchie before you see the manager, then he'll give you good advice, if he's got a bad attitude Ritchie 'll tell him so he doesn't have to see me
Armand Gnanduillet
''My feelings on Armand are that he's can do a lot of things.... but not all together. I've got to coach him, most strikers have to get into the last 25 yards to score goals and I've got to get him in those areas. I've seen something in him and i'm going to try and develop him''
The youth set up
''As the manager of the club I need to be able to speak to the under 10's, under 11's, under 14's, 15's, 16's and I talk to the youth team, they can take a bit more criticism, they're learning, but I want to talk to them all''
His philosophy
''I just want to win, you've got to be able to do everything. If the team lets you play, lets play football but i'll give them a plan b, a plan c we have to be able to do everything and we'll go through it on the training pitch.
''There's different ways of winning. If you notice Swindon started losing, Chesterfield starting not scoring....when teams play you the second time round they know what your all about and think we'll counter attack them, you have to have a back up plan''
Players drive
''I've coached players in non league, you can't expect a non league player to play like the premier league, but some of them don't want to win as much as I want to win.''
''I want to win, I want to score, it's a job to some players, but it's my life. They care what the score is, but it doesn't effect their life.''
''The players at the higher level have more drive, it's got to be inside you, you've gotta win''
Training
''I give them a job description, he now knows that if he's not doing it, he knows i'm not happy with him, if he does it all I don't have to tell him well done, he knows he's done it, if there not doing it, i'll give them a training session on how to do it''
''Everything is designed for Saturday, my training sessions every week will be based on that. So he's practicing so he's know what he's up against and if we're not doing right, we'll just train longer.''
''We'll count every step, heart rate monitors, hydration test, gps tops, so we can say how many miles he's done this week....we've got ones like Real Madrid from India.''
On boxing training
''Anything that's been working I'm going to keep''
The new staff at the Proact
''Brian Careys a good coach and a sound man, he knows what I'm going to say next, he knows what I'm thinking, he thinks like me, he knows what I want''
''Mark Crossley is a good coach and a good character, he lighten the atmosphere, the outfield players like him, the goalkeepers like him, he can coach the goalkeepers and the outfield players''
''Mal was in the SAS. I've had different fitness coaches over the years, those lads in the SAS are disciplined''
