Saunders always admired the big French boy
On the 21st of January 2013 a tall, young striker with a long name was signed from little known French team, AS Poissy, who play in the Championnat de France amateur 2. The league serves as the fifth division of the French football league system behind Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Championnat National, and the Championnat de France amateur.
Armand Gnanduillet:
"Delighted to have signed a new contract. Let's fight and do great things next season!"
Two and a half years on most of us can now say Gnanduillet and some of us can even spell it! Widely just known as Armand and even "big Dave" to the frustrations of some or just ''the big French boy'' as he is known to Dean Saunders. The French Ivorian has signed a one year extension at Chesterfield FC. Armand divides opinion with the Spireites, some fans absolutely love him and some absolutely don't! Armand has given us sparks of brilliance over his two and a half years at the Spireites and adds a different option to many other players.

Two players Dean Saunders was immediately aware of when he became Spireites manager were Drew Talbot (who he has signed to a new deal) and ''the big French boy'' Armand Gnanduillet. Dean Saunders became aware of Armand after his fantastic display against Saunders' former team Crawley Town.
''They caused us all sorts of problem, especially the big French boy'' commented the Saunders.
Under Paul Cook Armand was mainly seen as a ''Plan B'', but with a run of games he has scored goals. He could see more game time under the new manager and is a player better suited to Dean Saunders' style of play.
Here's the some of the highlights Armand has given us over the past two and a half years
