Consistency has been key to success

Paul Cook says he's a fan of continuity and now wants to keep the first 11 the same for the next three or four games.

Since Paul Cook joined the Spireites he has always had squad consistency. The only exception to this was the summer of 2013 which saw Eoin Doyle, Jimmy Ryan then Gary Roberts and Sam Morsy signing and then finally Ritchie Humphreys and Ian Evatt joining the squad. These players all got a good pre-season together which saw them in good shape for the League Two campaign.

This transfer window has seen the signings of Mani Dieseruvwe, Byron Harrison, Mark Duffy, Ashley Carter and Caolan Lavery, all of which have featured in the first team. This has seen Chesterfield having a pre-season in mid-season of sorts.

Paul Cook has confirmed the massive return of talisman Gary Roberts is not only very important on the pitch but also very important for the Chesterfield dressing room. With the exception of Dan Gardner, Paul Cook has a fully fit squad to choose from. Paul Cook should now also have an idea of his number one striker and preferred centre back pairing.

Paul Cook has suggested that Gboly Ariyibi will play again following his strong performance against Scunthorpe. Hopefully his spark added to a settled team will see the Spireites return to winning form once more.
