Carl Lamb on free agency and potential link with the Spireites

Nine months since leaving the Spireites, Carl Lamb finds himself a free agent after short spells at Vanarama Conference side Alferton Town and Welsh Premier League side Rhyl FC.

Lamb is currently in good shape and keeping to his own pre-season fitness programme while weighing up his options. The striker who many fans felt was unlucky not to get a chance in the Chesterfield first team and found his time at the Spireites very limited by the exceptional form the leading League One goalscorer Eoin Doyle.

''I just need to find that hunger and love back as it disheartened me being so close. I was in the squad on many occasions at Chesterfield under a top manager who saw my potential, but with the form of Doyle, I couldn't get in''

''At the moment I haven't made any commitments, but I am doing my own pre-season''

Lamb has caught the eye of many suitors including clubs from the USA, Romania, Iceland and Wales. Lamb has also been attracting interest from League Two.

A possible link up again with Chesterfield could see Lamb sealing a move to Chesterfield feeder club Europa Point FC.

Europa Point chairman John Gontier is trying to raise funds to sign the ex-spireite striker. This could be a good opportunity for Lamb to further improve his coaching skills by tutoring the Europa Point youngsters. Lamb previously had a coaching role before his time at Chesterfield FC.

Europa Point could use this guidance for it's youngsters, such as Andrew Pishu Hernandez, Antonio Jimenez and Alexis Sanchez who recently visited Chesterfield FC in April to experience life at a professional club and train with the Chesterfield FC development centre players.

Europa Point Chairman John Gontier told us

''We would love to have him. I`m sure he would help our young players shine."

"Being an amateur club we would need a sponsor or investor to come on board. I`m sure this sponsor or investor would get much back as with Carl Lamb we would definitely qualify for the Europa League! We were only 3 matches away last season!''

Lamb told the Spireite Gazette ''I loved my time coaching in Australia, where I created my own coaching company On The Ball Professional Coaching''

Another possible move to be a link up with former Spireite Rommy Boco.

''I'm trying to get over with Boco in India''

''I'm looking into negotiating a contract, so I could be off to India to play football in a few weeks. These are the clubs training facilities that they sent me''

Lamb also loved his time in Australia and is keen to get back there one day.

''I'm looking to get back to Oz, maybe in January, to play for Geelong soccer club, they are trying to sort my visa out''

Lamb still believes he has a point to prove in the English Football League and believes he is still in the shape to do so. With League teams still finalising their 2015/16 playing squads, Lamb is in the waiting game alongside many other professionals. Timing is everything, wait to long you may miss your chance, move to soon and you may not get the best deal.

Carl also wouldn't rule out a return to the Spireites! ''Have a word with Deano get me back there!'' he added.

We wish Carl all the best at this important time for free agents.
