Eoin Doyle Update

Today has seen the Irish Independent report that ''Sheffield United are in pole position'' to sign Eoin Doyle before the transfer window closes.

This is nothing new to Spireites fans, with Sheffield United being the first team to show interest for Doyle this transfer window. The fee rumoured by the Irish Independent is also nothing Spireites haven't heard before with £600,000 being the figure touted. They add that the fee could rise to 1M IF the Blades gain promotion.

The problem with having a clause like that in the deal is that currently Sheffield United and Chesterfield are competing for the same play-off spots to see them promoted into the Championship.

Despite this news today has seen BetVictor slash it's odds for Cardiff to be the club most likely to sign Doyle. It's reported that Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has been a long time admirer of the Irish goalscorer and Slade has been given the backing to make three signings before the window closes.

Paul Cook has already gone about strengthening the Chesterfield attack with the signing of Byron Harrison yesterday. (Click the link to find out more about the new forward)
