Gary Martin on Chesterfield

Trialist Gary Martin arrived in the UK today where he took the Proact stands to watch his potential new team mates take on Bradford. The former Middlesbrough youngster has a point to prove in England and hopes Chesterfield will be the team he can do it with.

Martin was impressed with what he saw off the pitch

''The stadium was awesome, great facilities''

Commenting on today's atmosphere

''Great fans and great atmosphere''

Martin added on the Chesterfield set up

''Yeah, I'm excited, Chesterfield are a good team, have a great set up, the stadium is fantastic and I'm excited to start training with such good players''

The thing lacking from today's display against Bradford was a cutting edge and Martin certainly possesses this. He was a prolific goalscorer at both youth and reserve levels for Boro scoring 19 goals in 39 matches for the academy team and 17 goals in 26 appearances for the reserve side.

Martin's goal scoring record speaks for itself, in Iceland he has scored 52 goals in 90 games, which earned him last seasons golden boot award. On top of this his team KR Reykjavik won the league title and two domestic cups.

Much as he is enjoying the success in Iceland, Martin's ambition to head back "home" and prove a point in England. Martin is a forward who likes to run in behind defences and play off a big front-man and he could be just the attacking option the Spireites are looking for. In today's game with Armand and Doyle both starting, Chesterfield have no back up on the bench and had no way to change the forward options. A striker is surely number one thing on Paul Cook's transfer list and Martin could be the man to fill the role.
